Learn more about the Vauxhall Corsa-e

The Vauxhall Corsa has been a fan favourite for decades at this point, first making its way onto the scene in 1992. It hasn’t really looked back since its release; with millions of Corsa’s sold, it remains one of the most popular car models in the UK. Vauxhall is looking to drive innovation with their latest model, the Vauxhall Corsa-e, by providing us with a well- rounded, efficient electric version.

It ticks all of the boxes that a standard Corsa would – excellent value for money, a balanced driving experience, bags of functionality – but with the added bonus of being fully electric.

Designed with an electric powertrain in mind, the Corsa-e offers the same aesthetics and features, such as identical boot space, but with the added bonus of costing around 3 pence per mile to run.

The latest Corsa-e is available in two different models, the GS-Line and the more luxurious Ultimate Edition, featuring Alcantra leather seat trim, driver seat massage functionality and a few other extras. Both models come equipped with all of the latest mod-cons so that you can enjoy a truly comfortable riding experience.

There are a number of different models available for used Vauxhall Corsa-e models, starting with the entry-level SE Nav before moving up to the Elite Nav, SE Nav Premium, SRi Nav Premium and finally the most luxurious in the range, the Elite Nav Premium. As you’d expect, you get more bells and whistles as you work up the models, but even the entry-level Elite Nav is filled with the latest mod-cons.

Vauxhall Corsa-e GS-Line

This is the latest entry-level model of the Corsa-e, but it really doesn’t skimp on the features. The exterior includes tinted rear windows, a beautifully designed contrasting black roof and elegant 17-inch alloys. When you reach the interior, you’ll enjoy three-spoke leather trim for the steering wheel and a high-quality 7-inch infotainment system with a touchscreen. Even the dashboard and seating have been carefully designed, with red accents and striping found throughout.

Vauxhall Corsa-e Ultimate

The luxury trim model for the latest Corsa-e is the Ultimate, which builds from the high-quality package offered in the entry-level model. Some of the additional features found in the Ultimate include finely stitched Alcantara leather seats with driver seat massage functionality. The real upgrades are the additional tech found in the Ultimate, such as an ultra-sharp 10-inch infotainment touchscreen, 180-degree panoramic rear view camera with built-in front and rear sensors and a heated steering wheel for optimal driving comfort.

The Vauxhall Corsa has been Vauxhall’s success story for a number of years, with millions of Corsa’s sold throughout the UK. It makes sense, then, that the Vauxhall Corsa-e is looking to make the same impression but for the latest evolution of electric cars.

With an initial launch back in 2018, the Corsa-e has already made a significant impact on the electric vehicle market. With a near-identical shape and design to the standard Corsa, it’s no surprise that this well-designed BEV was the top seller for electric cars in 2021 in the UK.

Brief History of the Vauxhall Corsa-e

The Vauxhall Corsa-e was first launched in the UK in 2018, before receiving a facelift in 2020. It’s been one of the UK’s most popular electric cars ever since, which makes sense given the strong reputation that its ICE counterpart enjoys.

Underneath is the same powertrain and chassis that underpins the Peugeot e-208, Vauxhall now being owned by Peugeot’s owners Stellantis.

The Corsa is one of Vauxhall’s most popular cars, having sold over 2 million of them in the UK since 1993. Available in a few different models, the Vauxhall Corsa-e has done a fantastic job promoting and endorsing the transition towards more eco-friendly vehicles.

The Vauxhall Corsa-e is the perfect car if you’re looking to pivot towards electric vehicles instead of ICE vehicles. Featuring all of the same design features and functionality of the much-adored Corsa, the Corsa-e brings next-level electric drivetrain technology into the mix. So you get to enjoy all of the reliability, efficiency and quality of a Corsa with the added bonus of switching to an electric vehicle.

Opting for a Corsa-e that’s a higher specification will net you some decent add-ons but expect a higher price when buying used. It might work out well for you though, as they tend to depreciate less in value which could mean lower costs if you’re using a PCP method. As the Corsa-e is quite a new line of cars, you should be able to negotiate lower prices when financing due to the younger age of the used cars.

Making the switch to an all-electric vehicle doesn’t need to be difficult thanks to the Vauxhall Corsa-e. What’s more, you can choose to buy your Corsa-e outright or lease it with some cost-effective car financing to get a fantastic deal.

ChooseMyCar.com offers a wide range of car financing options so that you can hit the road quickly and make some great savings in the process. Better still, we’re very flexible in terms of financing, so even if you’ve had problems getting credit in the past, we can help.

So whether you’re considering a Hire Purchase, PCP or Lease, we can offer you finance to get you on the road as quickly as possible.

The standard European version of the Corsa-e uses the CCS Type 2 charge port for fast charging.

While you can plug a Corsa-e into a three pin plug, this is really only for emergencies. Best to have a wallbox installed at home, where a 7KW supply can charge it overnight. When out and about, you can charge at public AC points or faster DC charge points, up to a maximum of 100KW.

All Vauxhall Corsa-e vehicles feature an onboard charger that is limited to up to 7.4kW.

Charging times for the Vauxhall Corsa-e vary depending on the type of socket you use.
Below is a breakdown of the different states of charging:

  • Using a 1-phase socket (3 pin household plug): 15 hours to charge from 0 to 100%
  • Using a 3-phase socket (wallbox installed at home): 7 hours 30 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%
  • Using a DC charging station: 1 hour 14 minutes to charge from 0 to 100%

The Corsa-e uses a 50 kWh traction battery that’s used to power a single permanent magnet electric motor. The motor produces 136 bhp which allows it to reach a top speed of around 93 mph.
