Learn more about the Audi E Tron

The Audi e-Tron was Audi’s first foray into the world of electric cars – a large, luxurious, high tech beast of an SUV. They went all-out to make it something special and, considering the huge numbers they’ve sold in the UK and on the continent, they succeeded with aplomb.

Luxury and comfort were the buzzwords of Audi’s engineers when they put the e-Tron together: make it quiet and make it special. Seating is plush throughout, with a perfect driving position behind the wheel. And, as is standard for Audi, material choices are impeccable – leather, chrome, wood: all of it feels upmarket and you’ll never hear a whisper of a creak or rattle anywhere.

The e-Tron is a big car – not quite as high-riding as some SUVs but long and wide, with cavernous space in the rear for passengers and possessions. It’s a true utility vehicle, designed for the slopes of Alpen. Strap on some skis to a roof-rack at it would look entirely at home.

Talking of looks, it’s a handsome beast but it looks very much like any other Audi. Which is a good thing. Were it not for the charge port on the front fender, there would be little to suggest that the e-Tron wasn’t a slightly larger A5.

Launched in 2015, it’s been around for a while and, in some ways, it shows. It’s huge battery gives you up to 250 miles of range but it’s not as efficient as some newer entries in the segment. Even some more mainstream SUVs, like those from Kia and Hyundai, will go further with a smaller battery.

To make up for this, the Audi charges at a blistering pace, being one of the first EVs on sale to take more than a 100Kw charge.

Brief History of the Audi E Tron

Audi E-Tron has been around for a long time, and it has had many incarnations. The first E-Tron badged Audi was introduced in the year 2000, and it was a diesel hybrid that featured a 1.9-litre TDI engine paired with an electric motor. Eventually Audi decided to reserve the e-Tron name only for its pure electric range, which can mean the used marked can get a bit confusing.

This newer model was first introduced to the public in 2017 and has gone on to become one of the most popular electric vehicles on the market, frequently topping overall sales lists of all cars in countries like Norway.

Quality and comfort are the reasons to buy any Audi but it goes double when you add in an electric motor or two and you will struggle to find a more comfortable or luxurious ride.

This is also an absolutely stonking family hauler, with acres of space, a huge boot and all the mod cons you could ever ask for.

If you’re looking to finance an Audi e-tron, there are a few things you should look for. First, make sure the loan has a low-interest rate and low payments. Second, check whether the loan is fixed or adjustable and whether it has a balloon payment at the end of the term. Third, if possible, get a lease instead of buying because leases are much cheaper than buying.
