Learn more about the Mazda RX-8
Although it’s been out of production for several years, the RX-8 is still a revolutionary sports car.
The award-winning RX-8 continued the trend from its predecessor with a Wankel, rotary engine and brought in pillar-less doors. This made it a genuine four-seat sports car.
It’s available in five special editions; Standard, Evolve, Kuro, Nemesis and PZ. Even for the time of release, the RX-8 offered excellent standard equipment. This included alloy wheels, CD auto-changer and sports seats.
Moving up the range to the Evolve gets you heated seats and air conditioning. The Kuro brought leather upholstery while the Nemesis added an electrically adjustable driver’s seat. Most of the range features a Bose sound system, a premium for the time.
The RX-8 was only available with petrol-powered engines, reflecting its sports focus. The 1.3L rotary engine was innovative and provided excellent performance for its size. Two versions of the engine were available, depending on the power. However, don’t expect great economy or emissions figures, a notorious downside of the RX-8.
