Smart was launched as the innovative off-shoot of Mercedes with it’s revolutionary Smart Car. Things went a little shaky, but now it’s back to its roots.

It could be the ultimate city car brand with just two vehicles in its range, focusing on affordability and green driving. After going all Mini with various alternative models, Smart is sticking with what works. It can be for first-time buyers or just about anyone.

Economical engines, clever use of space and zippy driving are the hallmarks of the brand. They may be niche, but few brands can say it’s a baby Mercedes.

Low running costs and the ability to be parked nose-to-kerb makes the ForTwo unique. Consistently well reviewed, there are few small cars with a focus on the environment.

The larger ForFour is technically a Smart, but it’s mostly a Renault Twingo. That’s no bad thing as the Twingo is a fantastic small car in its own right. It offers drivers more space to stay with the brand in the super-mini segment of the market.
