Learn more about the Audi E-Tron GT

The original Audi e-tron – Audi’s Model X rivalling SUV – is a fantastically practical and luxurious everyday electric offering but it wasn’t what you’d call a “halo car”. It has never dropped jaws or taken names in the way that the R8 did, back in the day.

The e-Tron GT, however,…

Based on the same underpinnings as the brilliant Porsche Taycan, the GT is the pinnacle of electrified Grand Touring: a low slung, 5 door luxury hatchback saloon with blistering pace and effortless comfort.

Designed for road tripping at speed and carving up motorway miles, the GT is everything we love about Audi. It’ll hit 60mph in 3.2 seconds, the interior is classy and sumptuous, the technology is next-level and the handling is as good as any road car has a right to be.

And it’s electric. And it seats 5.

It really is something special.

While looks are subjective, we also think it looks nicer than its Porsche cousin, with possibly Audi’s best outer design for the last couple of decades.

Looking for a truly brilliant electric Grand Tourer? This should be at the top of your list.

Audi are keeping trims quite simple but there are still a few options for the e-Tron GT,
including:

  • Premium Plus
  • Prestige
  • RS

Audi E-Tron GT Premium Plus

The base model of the Audi E-Tron GT, the Premium Plus trim model includes 469 HP and a boost mode HP of 522 alongside 3.9 seconds for 0-60mph. The Premium Plus trim level includes front cross traffic assist, 20″ 5-double-spoke design bi-colour titanium wheels, 4-way power lumbar support with a 14-way heated power front for the vehicle’s sports seats, a 3-spoke Alcantara multifunction steering wheel with a flat-bottom alongside LED headlights with a matrix-design and high-beam assist.

Audi E-Tron GT Prestige

The mid-range model of the Audi E-Tron GT, the Prestige trim level’s HP matches that of the Premium Plus, with additional standard features including a head-up display, heated rear seats, traffic jam assist and an Audi active lane assist with emergency assist. This trim level also includes a B&O Surround Sound System and an LED interior multi-colour ambient and contour lighting.

Audi E-Tron GT RS

This trim level and model are designed for high performance. Reaching 0-60mph in 3.1 seconds and with a 590 HP which is 637 HP when in boost mode, the trim level includes a carbon fibre roof, 20″ 5-spoke Aero wheels with a turbine design, disc brakes which are surface coated with Orange callipers, e-torque vectoring plus a black optic and carbon fibre exterior kit.

Audi’s fully electric touring sportscar deserves the hype. While it might share most of its powertrain tech and chassis with the Porsche Taycan (Meaning 800v, up-to 350KW rapid charging), the GT is very much its own beast.

It’s a little softer in its ride, making it nicer to drive long distance. It’s also got a more conventional interior – though wonderfully luxurious.

You get a touch more rear headroom, too: this is a Grand-Tourer, after all – you want to fit tall people in the back.

Brief History of the Audi E-Tron GT

The Audi E-Tron GT was produced by Audi as part of their E-Tron Sub-Brand of Battery Electric vehicles. The Audi E-Tron GT was manufactured in this sub-brand range and stands as Audi’s third electric car model that was fully electric, following the manufacturing of the E-Tron and the E-Tron Sportback SUVs.

The car went on sale in March 2021 and shares around 40% of its parts with the Porsche Taycan, including VW’s unique two speed rear gearbox.

If you love driving sporty cars that’ll do the long distance trips through mountain passes and down to the seafront while threading over the continent in style, the GT is your car.

It’s a fantastically fast but wonderfully comfortable sports car that’s perfectly tuned for twisting roads. You don’t get the rough edge you can find in other sportscars but you get all of the handling and all of the speed – with a 0-60 time that’ll beat many hypercars. And you’ll do all of that in electrified comfort and refinement.

When looking at financing options for an Audi E-Tron GT, it’s important to consider what specifications and features you really need in a vehicle. E-Tron GT vehicles with high-spec trim levels are bound to be more expensive yet they are less likely to depreciate over time compared to the base models. As E-Tron GT vehicles are relatively new, it may be worth looking for an older model to try and save some money on financing. If a budget model is what you’re looking for, the base model of the E-Tron GT covers all the basics you’ll need.
