As many makers of family hatchbacks look to move upmarket, Suzuki’s Baleno is considerably cheaper than its rivals. Better still, the Baleno provides plenty of interior space and a fun driving experience.
Three trims are available on the Baleno: SZ3, SZ-T, and SZ5. The entry-level SZ2 offers 15-inch steel wheels, DAB radio, a CD player, Bluetooth, and electrically-adjustable heated mirrors.
The mid-range SZ-T provides even more features. 16-inch alloy wheels, a reversing camera, air conditioning, and a sat-nav system are all included.
The range-topping SZ5 builds on the SZ-T with extra equipment. Adaptive cruise control, automatic city braking, and LED rear lights are all standard on this trim.
There are only petrol-powered engines available on the Baleno. A 1.0L is offered with either a manual or automatic gearbox. The engine is quite nippy and performs well considering the lightness of the Baleno, which helps maximise fuel economy.
