Learn more about the BMW ix3

The BMW iX3 is the fully electric version of BMW’s biggest-selling car, the X3. It doesn’t change anything from the successful model that didn’t need changing, making it triumphant
as BMW’s third full-electric car.

It can run 285 miles on one charge despite the small battery size when compared to others on the market, at 80kWh gross and 74kWh usable which makes charging up time attractive. It offers a smooth driving experience that feels natural and non-aggressive when accelerating. Featuring an automatic regeneration system, the BMW iX3 uses sat-nav and radar sensors to slow and coast efficiently which is impressive technology offering single-pedal driving.

It may not offer much in terms of leg room but it does have a big boot and offers all of the comfort and quality you would expect from a BMW when in the driver’s seat. It comes at quite an attractive price tag despite its luxury features and there are some further editions available with added extras.

The BMW iX3 is a relatively new model, especially in the UK, that is rare to find on the used car market at the moment, but not impossible. However, as such an impressive model, we are expecting it to be popular and more to find their way onto the used market soon. You can find the ever-popular BMW X3 and its many iterations available at most dealerships for a comparison point.

BMW iX3 Premier Edition

The standard of the iX3 range still comes with a range of features that make it stand out as a luxury SUV, such as an automatic tailgate, panoramic glass sunroof, adaptive LED headlights, excellent acoustics and black alloy wheels.

BMW iX3 Premier Edition Pro

One step up is the Premier Edition Pro which comes with all of the same features plus lumbar support, automatic high beam assist, parking assistant plus, and a head-up display.

BMW iX3 M Sport

The 2022 facelift version of the iX3 is called the M Sport and has an improved body and slimmer headlights. It uses the same battery and engine but boasts smoother driving.

BMW iX3 M Sport Pro

Upgrading to the M Sport Pro adds on a few exemplary features for an extra £3,000. These include self-parking, Comfort Access, gesture control, adaptive lights, keyless entry, HUD and better sound in the Harman Kardon sound system.

The iX3 is much unchanged from the current third generation X3 range. The cabin and body shell is all very similar, boasting the look that made it as popular as it is. Being initially designed for internal combustion and electric drivetrains means that you don’t loose out on space, and BMWs long history with the i3 means that they’ve a very efficient set of motors to pop under there, giving the iX3 plenty of range. It doesn’t compromise on acceleration either, with an impressive 0-62mph in 6.8 seconds.

Brief History of the BMW ix3

The BMW X3 has been in production since 2003 and the iX3 is the all-electric variant. It is BMW’s rival to other electric SUVs such as the Audi e-tron, Mercedes EQC and Skoda Enyaq. It has been in production since 2020 but has only been on sale in the UK since late 2021, and in 2022 has released facelift versions.

It’s a mid-size SUV Crossover: the shape and style of car that everyone wants at the moment – and boy is it a good one. Not only is it quieter and more refined than its petrol X3 stablemate, it’s also cheaper than the £100k+ iX. If you’re looking for a more affordable SUV with a touch of luxury, the iX3 is a tremendous choice.

When looking to finance any electric vehicle, consider if you have sufficient access to charging points. Although the initial price tag might be hefty for this modern vehicle, remember that a full charge will only cost around £13 – far less than refilling a diesel or petrol car. All of the trims are expensive and come with a range of features that you could benefit from, so it is worth comparing them to other electric vehicles to make the most of your budget.

ChooseMyCar.com can help you source the BMW iX3 that matches your budget and needs with a range of car finance options. Even if you’ve had problems getting credit before, we can help you to drive away happy with our bad credit car finance options.

The dimensions of the boot with the seats up is 510 litres, and with the seats down is 1,560 litres. This is mid-range when compared to other electric vehicles but is less than the standard X3.

The iX3 can take an 11Kw AC charge from a wallbox or public slow charger or up to 155KWs from a CCS DC Rapid Charger, of the type you can find at service stations. Be aware that not all DC Rapid Chargers are this fast.

The iX3 has impressively fast charging times, offering the ability to add around 60 miles of range in 10 minutes. Using a 150 kW charger will charge it up to 80% in just 34 minutes. Charging from home with less powerful outlets is likely to take 11 and a half hours.

The iX3 is suitable for those looking for all of the luxuries of a BMW while making a green change that may be more expensive at the outset but offers savings in the long term. It’s a family-sized SUV that only slightly compromises on space compared to the X3 and offers smooth, responsive driving perfect for urban areas and motorways.
