Jeep’s Compass provides chunky, rugged styling to stand out in a crowded market of soft-roaders.

Introduced following Chrysler’s merger with Fiat, the Compass uses a stretched platform of the Renegade, promising extra cabin space. A redesign and new looks push the Compass into the crossover SUV battle.

There are four trims for the Compass: Sport, Longitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. The entry-level Sport includes air conditioning, cruise control, and 16-inch alloy wheels.

An 8.4-inch touchscreen with smartphone mirroring, sat-nav, and 17-inch alloys are standard with the Longitude trim. The Limited spec adds leather seats, a reversing camera, automatic parking, and 18-inch alloys.

The top-spec Trailhawk provides exclusive body styling with decals, best-in-class 4×4 capabilities, 17-inch off-road alloys, and hill descent controls.

A range of petrol and diesel-powered engines are offered on the Compass. The 1.4L petrol engine provides reliable performance and driving ability for town and off-road. The available diesel engines include a 1.6L and 2.0L. They’re both excellent options for heading off the tarmac.
