Learn more about the Land Rover Evoque

The Evoque may be the smallest of the Land Rover range, but don’t let that fool you. While its size and energy efficiency make it ideal for a city driver, the Evoque is still a true Land Rover, providing the rugged driving style that you would expect.

In fact, the smaller and stockier nature of the Evoque actually makes it one of the best looking Land Rovers around, but it still packs a punch on the road, taking just seven seconds to reach 60 miles per hour, but offering a much sportier drive and better handling than some of its chunkier relatives.

If you’re looking to buy a used Range Rover Evoque, you’re in the right place. Here at ChooseMyCar, we offer a wide variety of used Range Rover Evoque models, with thousands of dealers around the country, to ensure that we can match you with the perfect finance deal for your new car.

There are a number of different models to choose from when you’re looking to purchase a Range Rover Evoque, with the standard five-door model being the most popular.

However, there’s also a three-door coupé version and even a convertible edition too. Each of the models is also available in four different trim levels, starting with the Pure which is marketed as “minimalist” rather as a “base model”.

There’s also the Pure Plus, the Prestige, which adds some luxury features, as well as the Dynamic, which is more focused on performance.

Autobiography

This special model was launched in 2013 and was described as “the pinnacle of urban driving” with features including 285PS/400Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine, revised chassis for sharper handling, 350mm front brake discs, Land Rover InControl Apps, forged 20-inch alloy wheels in satin technical grey, exterior trim components detailed in Santorini black, new design of grille, lower front valance, new foglight surrounds ‘Autobiography’ illuminated tread plates, ingot badging on the tailgate and front wing vents, darkened headlights, clear tail lamps and Santorini black contrast roof.

The Range Rover Evoque launched in 2011 as a development of the Land Rover LRX concept vehicle and is now in its second generation.

Since then, the Evoque has established itself as one of the best compact SUVs on the market and found its niche as a stylish and more eco-friendly SUV, with features such as biofuel compatibility, lightweight construction materials, regenerative brakes and more.

The Evoque has gone on to receive critical acclaim, specifically for evolving the Land Rover image, while maintaining the brand’s renowned off-road capabilities and has sold over 800,000 thousand models worldwide

Brief History of the Land Rover Evoque

  • The Land Rover LRX concept car which went on to become the Evoque was first unveiled at the 2008 North American International Auto Show.
  • In 2011 the Evoque was launched, initially with two models: the five-door and the three-door the Coupé.
  • Won multiple awards between 2011 and 2012, including Auto Express Car of the Year and World Design Car of the Year.
  • The Evoque got its first upgrade in 2014, which added features such as a new gearbox, driver assistance and parking assistance.
  • 2017 saw the launch of a Convertible model, based on the three-door Coupé.
  • The second-generation model was launched in 2018 with a longer wheelbase and a petrol PHEV hybrid model available.

The Range Rover Evoque has been hugely popular since it launched, but just why should you think about picking up a used one?

Range Rovers are amongst the most desirable cars on the market, but they’re also some of the most expensive, so the Evoque is one of the easiest ways to own one.

Best of all though, even though it’s much smaller than a full-size model, it still drives like a Range Rover, with great off-road capabilities even if you never leave the city and while they drive with the heft of a regular SUV, they handle like a hatchback, which has sharp steering on corners.

While there are lots of other good options in the compact SUV, you get a certain level of luxury with a Range Rover model, with interior features such as heated leather seats, dual-zone climate control and an 8-inch touchscreen interface on all models, as well as 18-inch alloy wheels.

Finally, the Evoque is stacked with safety features for peace of mind, including seven airbags, hill-hold assistance, stability control and automatic emergency braking, earning a five-star rating from Euro NCAP.

If you’re buying a used Range Rover Evoque, the previous user has probably had a fair bit of use out of it, so as always, it’s important to properly check it over before deciding to buy one on finance.

Start by checking the bodywork and tyres for any scuffs or kerb damage, but you might want to check underneath for any dented panels or broken parts, just in case the vehicle has had some off-road adventures.

Range Rover Evoque drivers sometimes report problems with the vehicle’s electrics, such as the air-con and sat-nav, so be sure to check that these are all in working order too.

There have also been reports of problems with the gearbox on the automatic models of the Evoque, as well as with tailgate alignment, which can cause issues with the reversing camera.

The Evoque comes with start-stop technology, which has been known to cause a car’s flywheel to wear out earlier than usual, which you’ll feel if the clutch pedal vibrates excessively.
