Used Nissan Qashqai Models
There have been a couple of different models of the Nissan Qashqai available over the years, including both five and seven-seater versions.
About the Nissan Qashqai
The Nissan Qashqai is a crossover SUV, meaning it sits somewhere between a traditional SUV, a mini MPV and a supermini, meaning it delivers on all kinds of different levels.
While it can be quite hard to put in any one category, the Qashqai offers a practical and versatile option which is perfect for families and all at an affordable price point too.
Launching in 2006, the Qashqai replaced the Terrano II as Nissan's SUV offering and a second-generation model was released eight years later.
Wondering exactly what the name means? Nissan named the car after the Qashqai people of Southwestern Iran, with the word translating as “A horse with a white forehead”.
Why Buy a Used Nissan Qashqai?
The Qashqai is the most popular Nissan model in the UK, as well as the most popular SUV overall, which is largely due to the fact that it serves so many different types of driver.
Smaller than an MPV, but bigger than a supermini, the Qashqai was ahead of the curve when it launched in 2006 and is still offering an unrivalled combination of style, comfort and practicality.
While it's technically an SUV, the Qashqai's most common rivals are the Volkswagen Golf and Ford Focus, but offers much more space, both in the interior and the boot, with the Qashqai+2 having an extra two seats in the back, which can be folded down for more luggage space.
There are a lot of different engine sizes to choose from, from 1.5 to 2-litre, whether you're going to be using it for city driving or require a little more power. There's also both manual and automatic versions available, as well as 4WD options too.
While it's bigger than the likes of the Golf and the Focus, the Qashqai still offers a smooth drive with good suspension and it's also known for its exceptional safety ratings too.
Overall the Qashqai is a solid choice for a family car which combines everything that you're likely to want from a hatch.

Which Used Nissan Qashqai Should I Buy?
Here are some of the various versions of the Nissan Qashqai and their features.
Nissan Qashqai Visia
The Visia is the Nissan Qashqai's entry-level model and comes with either a 1.2-litre or 1.5-litre diesel engine, both of which strike a fine balance between performance and economy. Even as an entry-level car there's a good level of features as standard, such as cruise control, hill-start assist, air conditioning, LED daytime running lights, Bluetooth and USB connectivity and more.
Nissan Qashqai Acenta
The Acenta is a mid-range Qashqai, which offers an improved spec and is one of the most popular models in the range, offering great value. The Acenta is reasonably priced, with a good range of engines to choose from and extra bits of kit such as auto lights and wipers, climate control, ambient lighting and luggage board system and there's also the Acenta Premium which has even more gadgets and features.
Nissan Qashqai N-Connecta
For a little bit extra, you can try the N-Connecta, which features additions such as privacy glass, larger 18-inch wheels and keyless entry. There's also more safety features, such as blind-spot warning and a rear cross-traffic alert, as well as a 360-degree camera system.
Nissan Qashqai Tekna
The Tekna is the Qashqai's high-performance variant and offers an even more extensive list of equipment as standard than the other models, including 19-inch alloy wheels, climate control, cruise control, leather seats, electric folding mirrors, reversing camera and the Smart Vision pack.
What Should I Look for When Financing a Nissan Qashqai?
As when buying any used car, you should be sure to give your Nissan Qashqai a proper check over to ensure that there are no problems on the interior and exterior of the vehicle.
Some particular things that you might want to check when it comes to a Qashqai include the electrics, especially the air conditioning, as some of the 2006 and 2007 models were recalled due to a fault where the AC was causing the engine to stall.
Other common complaints include leaking windscreens, faulty steering and uneven brake wear, all of which could be expensive issues to fix.
